                  On the second day morning, we set out to visit the Sault St.Marie Canal National Historic Site . This Canal is now used mainly for recreational boating purpose, the highlight of which is that visitors can get the experience of going through the ‘Lock System’ in the canal. This lock called Soo Lock was built in 1998 and is built inside the bigger historic lock which once existed here. Other side of this canal is the US state of Michigan. The International Bridge connecting US and Canada is another attraction here, which was closed for public traffic due to the Covid pandemic.                  With the long weekend coming up in August, we wanted to do a road trip to any other province outside Ontario. But the ever-changing travel restrictions made us a bit skeptical about that, which forced us to plan within Ontario itself. Our plan was to book a RV or a van since we were 9 people, but we were too late to go for booking and most of the better and less-expensive RVs had already gone booked weeks, if not months before, by then. At last, we had to rent two SUVs for the trip, for which we had to sacrifice the fun of everyone being together throughout the trip.                 It’s May and summer had just began in Canada. I had not done a proper trip to any destination after landing in this beautiful country till then. Even though I went for a half-day trip with my roommates to the Blue Mountains in the beginning of the year, we were not properly prepared for the major activities like skiing or ice skating in those snow covered mountains. Most of the other activities there remains closed in winter, which means it calls for a detailed long visit some time later in the future. That Friday evening we decided that we should go for a full-day outing to some destination, although we couldn’t zero down on which place that should be till we went to bed.
